My Favorite Mistake

cristina.jpgIF ONLY life came with a rewind button! Wouldn’t it be great if Cristina’s “rewind” plan could really work?

Haven’t all of us said or done something we wish to God we could take back. Hurtful things. Stupid things. Neglectful things.

Shouldn’t we all get at least one do-over? They have mulligans in golf. Why not life?
But it’s really not a good idea, is it. We’d spend all of our time hitting the Undo Button… especially those of us Type A’s. And where’s the fun in that? If we hadn’t had the opportunity to do something stupid, how would we learn in life?

I’ll never forget the day I made a failing grade on a test (my first). I was horrified and mortified and sure I was headed for certain failure. My mother actually CHEERED. She said it made me human.

I know this storyline focused on mistakes, but it really said to me: “Who Am I?”
Did it seem that way to anyone else?
“Who Am I, and What Am I Made Of?”
Here’s what I mean…
• McSleazy stayed true to himself, using Meredith and claiming the “Right Now” plan from Bailey – but proving he is a (great) doctor for a reason
• Alex seems to be finding a side of himself we haven’t seen by helping “Eva” figure out who she is
• The lost soul of a daughter whose mother had the weird bone disease
• Bailey… Man, I love that woman. She is so straight forward. No nonsense and focused.
• Meredith, realizing that she was being used by Mark, managed to dig deep and move forward
• Derek… Oh, Derek. (Sigh) He’s so in love with Meredith and that trumps all for him… even being chief. (Sigh) He’s so McWonderful.

grey.jpgOkay – let’s talk about the bear in the living room.
Izzie and George.
There CAN’T be an Izzie and George. Right?
I said last time it grossed me out because it was like Izzie slept with her brother. Almost incestuous. “Ewwww,” I said. And then this week – I was really thinking (hoping) maybe they just slept together, as in crashed … caught some Zzz’s… passed out in the same bed. Then we saw George’s flashbacks. Oh My. Oh MY!

callie.jpg
I’m not a huge Callie fan, but in this case, she’s really getting a raw deal. George knows it. Izzie knows it. And while I was all gnarlified by the idea of Izzie and George, the way they behaved in the storage closet... the moment that had no words but said so much… (Sigh). ... Can I actually be rooting for them? I am not sure I’m over Denny! Well, you got me. Wow. Good job, Grey’s!

One last thing. I just have to say THANK YOU! to the writers of Grey’s Anatomy. THANK YOU for bringing sexy back. Thank you for recapturing the magic that drew me into Grey’s. Glad YOUR ‘rewind’ button is working.

I was confused by something. When Mark told Meridith "his" reason for giving her the chance to do the surgery with him (the chief looked at her as a beaten down dog) I believed he was trying to help her....and that she told Derrick "he was right that Mark was using her" just to passify him. It showed a good side to Mark we had not seen before, one perhpas worthy of chief. Did anyone else see this? Like it was her secret with Mark. He was sneaky with his stealing of Bailey's remarks though. Is there any chance Bailey could be Chief? Is it even possible? She seems right for it. Mark was even touting her trauma center.

I noticed that too. Who knows, maybe McSteamy will be the new chief (personally, I'm hoping it's going to be Bailey...) I'm starting to like Mark more this season. He definitely has his flaws, but he and Derek were best friends for years, so he must also be a good guy. I hope he and Derek make up soon (it seemed like they were starting to when Mark comforted Derek while Meredith was in the hospital). After all, if Addison doesn't hate Meredith, why should Derek hate Mark?

Not a fan of the George and Izzy thing. I agree, I am not over Denny yet either. He was fabulous.

I really liked Denny too (I cried when Izzie was lying next to him after he died in the finale...they were so cute together.) But I think it's been a while, and it would be good if Izzie could move on....with anyone EXCEPT george!

I'm SO glad Grey's is back! Dr. Bailey once again stepped up for one of her residents (Izzie) in her time of need. And we can't help but hope that one day Izzie will get to know the child she gave up for adoption. But George --he's truly more than a friend. He's her man in every sense of the word. BUT, it's not right because in order for him to truly be with Izzie, Callie must get hurt. NOT FAIR. And since all is fair in love and war, whoever hurts will ultimately feel some additional hurt (wonder how Shonda Rhimes is going to play that out). And the ultimate McDreamy question -- would you sacrifice your career growth for true love? I'd want both and would fight for both. Some things are definitely worth fighting for.

Now, I can't wait to see who the Chief starts dating. I'm glad he's not rushing in, because we all know -- only fools rush in.
